Advantage Bets
Advantage betting is accomplished by making a bet or a play that has a mathematical advantage. In traditional sports betting, which will be the main focus of this site, a house (bookmaker) will put forth lines on a sports game or event. The advantage that the bookmaker sets for itself is commonly called the house advantage, juice or vig.
To obtain an advantage bet the bet must beat the juice, meaning that if the same bet was taken over a large number of times it would result in a profit. It is the same premise that counting cards will work in Black Jack. Playing Black Jack by the book (optimally) will give the casino a slight advantage, in the neighborhood of 1%. By counting cards and making larger bets while higher value cards are left in the deck one can eliminate the casino advantage and swing the advantage to their side. This is much like poker when a player gets their money into the pot in good spots.
One thing to keep in mind is that no bet is ever a sure thing. Every bet will not be won, but the premise behind advantage betting is win enough bets to profit. Continuously making bets where the reward outweighs the risk will result in a long term profit. This site will be dedicated to finding this value in bets.
