Believe in Angel

This year’s Masters had the drama everyone wanted, but it wasn’t from the players you would have expected it from. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson were paired on Sunday and did have a great duel. Mickelson had a great front nine, going six under and was the favorite at one point. This was making me nervous as he was the only player I was losing money on in the winner market on Betfair.

The 72 hole tournament actually went 74 holes before deciding a winner. Kenny Perry was in great position to win it before he bogeyed the final two holes. This forced a three-way playoff with Angel Cabrera, Chad Campbell and Perry. Cabrera, who is most famous for winning the U.S. Open at Oakmont two years ago, drove his tee shot on the first playoff hole into the trees. He was snookered behind a tree and gambled as he tried to draw around the tree. The ball somehow ended up back in the fairway and the Argentine saved par, something Campbell couldn’t do.

Perry now had a better chance to win and forget about his collapse with the playoff being down to Cabrera and him. However Perry missed the green badly with his approach shot and bogeyed to give Cabrera the win.
