Canada vs. Germany
The over/under market for last night’s World Jr. Hockey Championship game between Canada and Germany on Betfair was set at 5 1/2. The over was a huge favorite trading around 1.09 pregame. Corresponding to this the under was trading at odds around 12. The game finished 5-1 in favor of Canada, with Canada having 49 shots compared to Germany’s 13.
Half way through the third period the score was 3-1 for Canada. Tavarez and Boychuk each added power play goals late in the game to push it over the 5 1/2. You can see the under market on Betfair below and the dip in odds from 12 to 2. You can see the last price matched on the market was at odds of 2.1. A trader had the opportunity to buy the under for odds of 12 and then sell it back for odds at 2. Trading proper amounts would have guarenteed a profit.
