Free MLB Betting Tips: Detroit Tigers v. Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox must be happy to return home tonight. Their nine game road trip didn’t end as well as it started. Boston swept the Baltimore Orioles, only to then lose two in Tampa Bay. They capped off the trip by losing four straight to their biggest rivals, the New York Yankees. Boston now sits 6 1/2 games behind those Yankees in the American League East.
At one stretch during that four game series with the Bronx Bombers the Red Sox had not scored a run in 31 innings. Things won’t get any easier tonight when they face the Tigers. Detroit will send Edwin Jackson to the hill. Jackson has been great this season with an ERA at 2.62. It is even lower on the road at 2.47.
Brad Penny will toe the slab for Boston. In Penny’s last two starts he has allowed 12 runs over 11 innings, losing both.
I think that getting swept by the Yankees will be tough to recover from for the Red Sox. I like the Tigers to take it with a strong outing from Jackson. If this happens it will be the first time since 2001 that the Red Sox have lost seven in a row.
