MLB Betting Tips: Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees

The Boston Red Sox are in New York for the weekend to play a three game series against the Yankees.

The Yankees can clinch the American League East with a sweep this weekend, while the Red Sox can clinch the wild card spot by winning all three games.

Jon Lester goes tonight for the Red Sox. Lester has been on fire as of late. In each of Lester’s past nine starts he has not allowed more than three earned runs, while he has gone at least six innings. The Red sox have won each of Lester’s past seven starts.

Joba Chamberlain will go for the Yankees. Chamberlain is on a tight pitch count to get ready for the playoffs. Chamberlain hasn’t gone more than four innings since August 16th. His fastball has about 5 mph less on it than it did earlier in the year. You have to wonder if being a starter is catching up to the one time relief pitcher.

I think a definate pitching advantage goes to the Red Sox here. Lester is 3-0 in seven career starts against the Yankees. I’m going with the Red Sox here for 1.86 on Betfair. You can also back them on Sportsinteraction for 1.80. You will usually see better odds on Betfair.
