NFL Betting Tips: Monday Night Football

Peyton Manning will be without Anthony Gonzalez tonight when they go into Miami to face the Dolphins. Gonzalez sprained right knee ligaments in last week’s victory. Replacing Gonzalez will be Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie. These two receivers have combined for nine NFL receptions.

This may seem like a big issue but I think the Colts still have enough firepower to get by the Dolphins. The Dolphins did have a record of 11-5 last season, which was a huge turnaround from the 1-15 they were in 2007. Last season the AFC East Champions face all the teams from the NFC and AFC West. These are arguably the two weakest divisions in the NFL. I’m thinking that the 11-5 record was much better than they actually were and it showed when they got hammered 27-9 by the Baltimore Ravens in the postseason.

I’m going with the Colts tonight. Odds on Betfair are 1.59 to back the Colts. I’m giving them over a 70% chance to win this football game, therefore this is value.

Hi John,

What are your thoughts on trading this one? I agree that it should be a Colts win (even though I am a Dolphins fan), but the odds on offer for the fins should drop a bit during the game.

Good call Grubber. Turned out to be a good game to trade.

Yes, I managed to get quite a bit out of that one. Shame the Dolphins didn’t win it though.

The Dolphins surprised me with their run game. Part of it may have been the Colts inability to stop the run.

It will be interesting to see how they can run the ball against San Diego next week.
