NHL Playoff Preview: Chicago vs. Calgary
Chicago has owned Calgary this year winning all four games the two teams played. I think experience is something that is overrated, these kids on Chicago are ready to go and I’m expecting big things from them. The Mikka Kiprusoff matchup with Nikolai Khabibulin is a key in this series, as goaltending usually is in the playoffs. Goaltending can carry a team through as we have seen so often. Kiprusoff’s numbers have been on a decline in the past few years. I think it should be a concern that he could be overused, therefore isn’t as good as he could be at the end of the season. On the other side Khabibulin has only played in 42 games this year, one more than his backup Cristobal Huet. Khabibulin had a great regular season. I’ve heard many mention that it seems he plays better when there is pressure to keep his starting job. Also, Khabibulin has a great record versus the Flames, 22-5-2 in the regular season. Of course he was Tampa Bay’s goaltender when they beat Calgary in the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals.
Prediction: Chicago in 5.
