PGA: Northern Trust Open Preview
Mike Weir looks to be temendous value for this weekend’s PGA Tour event. Weir can be backed at Betfair for odds of 17.5. Weir has won this tournament twice, 2003 and 2004. Weir also played very well last weekend at the AT & T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, finishing second after play was suspended after 54 holes.
Phil Mickelson is the favorite on most sports betting books. Mickelson hasn’t looked that impressive so far this year, I would suggest on staying away from backing him. Laying Mickelson is a possibility for this tournament.
Other bets that I feel have value in the winner market on Betfair are:
Robert Allenby (48.0) This will be Allenby’s first PGA event of this season. Last year he started on fire and it is possible he may do so again as this year he will be playing with some inspiration after losing his mother to cancer last month.
Zach Johnson (36.0) Johnson is playing some great golf right now with three good finishes, T-6 at the Mercedes, winning the Sony Open and a T-12 at the FBR Open. Of those twelve rounds only one was over par.
Kenny Perry (42.0) Perry is the current money leader and leader in FedEx Cup points. He ranks fourth in GIR (Greens in Regulation). The only issue with his game so far is ranking 172nd in putting. I expect him to return to his normal form very soon.
Aaron Baddeley (46.0) Riviera is layed out well for Baddeley’s game. He has a T-13 in ‘07 and a T-7 in ‘05 in this tournament.
Sleepers:
Charlie Hoffman (70.0) Hoffman has been playing solid this year.
Dustin Johnson (85.0) Won last week at the AT & T. This guy won’t be a sleeper for much longer.
Graeme McDowell (130) You never know.
All Odds are Available on Betfair

I went with Ben Curtis each-way at a huge price. The guy is still under-rated, and his form over the past six months is very strong.
