Saints vs. Bears Preview
Week 15 in the NFL season kicks off tonight with the New Orleans Saints going into Chicago to play the Bears. The rematch of the 2006 NFC Championship Game, which the Bears won decisively, will be played in a similar frigid temperature.
Sportsbooks have the Bears at around a 3 point favorite with the over/under set around 45.5 points. Presently on Betfair the odds on the Bears to wint the game is 1.72 while odds for the Saints is 2.36. You have to figure that the cold temperatures give the Bears an extra home field advantage. The Saints have relied heavily on the pass game for most of the year, they may have to run the ball a little more tonight unless they fall behind early. Last week Marques Colston had a sub-par game, dropping many passes. You would expect him to bounce back tonight although colder weather could result in more dropped balls. The bears will rely on their run game, featuring Matt Forte who is having a great season. The Bears are likely to take a couple chances down the field with Devin Hester as well. Chicago native Pierre Thomas did run for over 100 yards against the Bears last year. This year the most rushing yards the Bears have allowed to one running back is 66 yards to Adrian Peterson. Personally I like the Bears to win this one but I’m not sold on it. What I do like more than that is a props bet for the longest field goal kicked to go under. With cold temperatures it is hard to kick a long field goal. Also backing this the fact that New Orleans rookie kicker, Garrett Hartley sometimes doesn’t get as many chances at field goals as other kickers as the Saints like to go for it on fourth down.
This should be a good game to watch with both teams needing to wins for their playoff chances.
Fantasy football watch: Matt Forte will have a big game.
