Wide Open AFC?
We are into Week 15 of the NFL Season and like many of you I am awaiting the Sunday slate of games. It seems experts are constantly are constantly changing their minds on who is the second best team in the AFC. Four weeks ago the New England Patriots were the top contender, then the New York Jets beat them in overtime thanks in large part to a coin flip, the Steelers and Colts have also been mentioned. One thing remains constant, the Tennessee Titans are the team to beat in this conference. I believe at this moment the Baltimore Ravens are not only the top contender but possibly the team to beat. The Ravens are playing great football right now. Their defence has always been great but the offence has held it’s own this year, three solid running backs helps. The Ravens have a huge game tomorrow against the Steelers. Personally I love watching great defences so I will be glued to the television for this one. The Colts are on the unofficial bye week as they host the Lions. The Patriots should come out with a win in Oakland as should the Jets who host the Bills, losers of 6 of their past 7 (thanks KC). This might lead you to think the only good matchup amoung AFC contenders, no offence Broncos, is the Steelers/Ravens game. I don’t believe this is so. I really like the Houston Texans to upset the Tennessee Titans tomorrow. I know the Texans aren’t great against the run and Tennessee has a great run game, but Houston has been getting better in that department. Houston is an underated team while to me Tennessee is very overated. Also, the Texans have been much better with Matt Schaub at QB this year and also at home.
Fantasy tip: Sammy Morris will have a big day. Oakland’s run defence isn’t good while Matt Cassell has missed a good part of the week mourning the death of his father. Expect the Pats to rely heavily on the run.
