World Baseball Classic Underway
Baseball is back! The World Baseball Classic started yesterday with Japan beating China 4-0. I really like Japan to repeat this year. I think 4-1 is value, you can still get odds above that at Betfair and some sportsbooks. One of the advantages of a betting exchange is not only that games go in-play but future bets like this are always available.
Some Sportsbooks had Japan as an 11 1/2 run favorite while the over/under was set at 13 1/2. The only time I will make a parlay bet is when there is a correlation between the components of the bet. So last night was one of those times. I took Japan to cover the 11 1/2 runs parlayed with the over. The logic behind this is that Japan would need atleast 12 runs to cover so the chances of the game going over would increase if Japan covers the spread. This bet did lose but I made another parlay bet taking the runs with the under. It is the same logic, if the game goes under 13 runs there is a good chance that Japan won’t cover the 11 1/2. This is the bet that won.
Many Sportsbooks won’t allow parlays like this. If you look hard enough you may find one.
